Comedy for Climate Change
Te Henga Studios is happy to support Comedy For Climate Change, facilitated by renown Master of Clown and improvisation Giovanni Fusetti, in their efforts to produce comedy videos about climate change for a new social media campaign leading up to the Paris climate negotiations this December. The group spent Easter here work-shopping improvised scripts they're planning to film here later this month, with screenings to be held in the barn studio* This is how they describe the project:
The plan is to make videos that are funny, moving, poetic and on-message, but which avoid being preachy. They will be one of the means by which pressure for action is applied. They will trigger humour and compassion..
This year may well be the make-or-break year for a meaningful deal on climate change. This year's negotiations could well be the last time that all world leaders will be present soon enough to implement the kind of change needed. Worldwide pressure is growing for a deal that will do the job. All major environmental organisations are putting their efforts behind this..
We have an excellent cast and crew willing to donate their time. A couple of major environmental organisations are sounding interested in using the videos once they're made, meaning there could well be a very large ready-made audience..
We have a great cast of comedians and a talented and professional film crew willing to donate their time. A couple of major environmental organizations are sounding interested in using the videos once they're made. This means we could well end up with a very large ready-made audience. We also have assistance from Te Henga Studios in West Auckland, NZ. So far we have brainstormed, improvised and devised the scenarios for the videos. These will be shot in late April. This is a radically non-profit project and we are calling for help to cover the running costs. Any contribution, even the smallest, will be very welcome.
